Meet George

George Phillips' race against 18 year incumbent Maurice Hinchey in 2010 turned out to be one of the most exciting in the country.

George's army of grassroots volunteers and supporters helped turn a heavy underdog challenge into a dead heat. Politico, a leading national publication, called the match-up the #2 race in the country to watch.

On election night, George reached almost 48% of the vote. Only a visit from President Bill Clinton and hundreds of thousands of dollars in Washington special interest money were able to prevent George and his thousands of energized, hard working supporters from victory.

Born and raised in the Binghamton area, George went on to earn degrees from Villanova University and the University of Notre Dame. He taught high school in Louisiana and DC Public Schools before serving as an aide to Congressman Chris Smith of New Jersey.

George currently teaches at both Seton Catholic Central and Broome Community College and has a passion for American History.

George and his wife Diana live in Endwell with their two sons --- 4 year old son George Joseph and Michael, a newborn.
