About the FRAC Act: HR 2766, Maurice Hinchey's FRAC Act would bring the EPA into the Marcellus Shale operation and require the EPA to issue permits for hydraulic fracturing, which they simply lack the personnel to do. New York State already has some of the toughest environmental standards in the country and can implement clean water standards without federal intrusion. EPA involvement could shut down or delay the entire process for years.
